CESA Notice to Members – April, 2017

Back to Stewards News

The CESA quarterly notice provides important program updates and changes for members. If you have any questions or concerns, we invite you to reach out to us directly at any time. We may share your question in future notices, as often times the questions one member asks are thought of by others. It is a great opportunity to share learnings and information about the program!
Program Product Update
CESA is continuously reviewing new and existing products to either confirm or exclude their capture under the ElectroRecycle program and ensure a consistent decision-making process is followed. A reminder that the following products are excluded from the ElectoRecycle program.

Members are reminded that they must report and remit fees on new products starting 90 days from receiving notice about the inclusion of the product in the program.
If your company has questions whether a product is included or not included in the program, please email memberservices@cesarecycling.ca with a product description and photo, and we will provide clarification. Depending on the nature of the product, a decision may need to be reviewed by CESA’s Producer Relations Committee, which meets on a quarterly basis, resulting in a potential delay. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure all products are thoroughly reviewed.
Stewardship Plan Submission Update
On September 30, 2016, CESA submitted a revised BC Product Stewardship Plan to the B.C. Ministry of Environment.  The Plan is currently undergoing review by the Ministry, which is anticipated to be completed sometime in 2017. The draft plan is available online here. In the interim, the Program continues to operate under the existing approved stewardship plans available here.

2017 ElectroRecycle Ambassador Tour
Summer is on its way and that means ElectroRecycle is hitting the road to promote recycling and facilitate the collection of broken small appliances throughout British Columbia. The ElectroRecycle Ambassador Team will be traveling through communities, hosting round-ups and attending community festivals and are looking forward to connecting with communities across BC on behalf of all our members!

Al Fontaine of Townsite Ace Hardware in Bella Coola, partnered with the ElectroRecycle Ambassador team in 2016 and said that “Having the Recycling Ambassadors on location helped bring people into the store for the day and really got people talking and thinking about recycling that otherwise might not have known about it at all”.

If you are a retailer in B.C and are interested in partnering with our ambassador team to host a round-up event in your community please let us know. We are excited to visit your location with our recycling info booth which includes games and prizes and our ElectroRecycle drop off bin to allow customers to recycle on site. For more information, please contact Stephen Morgan, Stakeholder Communications Supervisor, at stephen@electrorecycle.ca
