We are pleased to share with you that effective July 1, 2015, Environmental Handling Fees (EHFs) for nearly all products included in the BC Small Appliance and Power Tool Recycling Program (ElectroRecycle) have been reduced. A table of revised ElectroRecycle EHFs is on our website here.
We recently completed an extensive, long-term review of operational and sales data for the program and learned from our research that a fee revision was warranted. Factors like continued efficiencies in collection, transportation and processing contributed to our decision, as did sustained sales patterns across a number of categories.
Through ongoing dialogue with you, our membership, we also learned that there is a strong appetite to see reporting and remitting processes simplified, wherever possible. To this end, we have consolidated a number of ElectroRecycle reporting categories, capturing all program products under fewer headings. Consolidated categories are highlighted in the revised EHF schedule, but we are happy to walk you through the changes directly, if you have any questions or concerns.
The current EHFs for affected products should continue to be applied on sales made up to and including June 30, 2015. We ask that you do not retroactively apply the revised fees.
Our online fee reporting system will be updated to reflect this change to EHFs, as will the fee tables posted on our consumer-facing pages of this website, Electrorecyle.ca. In addition, updated promotional materials to members were sent out prior to July 1, 2015. Please contact us if you require more material.
