Hundreds of friendly Vancouver folks came out to enjoy the sunshine last weekend at RecycleFest 2018!
RecycleFest 2018 got off to a great start as the sun was shining from the moment we arrived at Trout Lake. The Peak was there bright and early to keep us company while we were setting up. With the help of the Trout Lake Youth Group, we quickly transformed the space outside the community center into an exciting space to celebrate recycling.
This year, we had an incredible array of vendors, selling everything from handmade bags to upcycled jam. We’re incredibly grateful for their support. It’s always encouraging to see the interesting new ways people are helping to make the world a cleaner, greener place.
Some of the activities we had set up were a bouncy castle, mural painting, recycling trivia wheel, caricature artist, live music to dance to and more! If you got hungry, our friends from the Trout Lake Youth group were busy cooking up hotdogs and serving free cotton and popcorn all day. Yum!
The most important part, as always, was the recycling. This year, we collected more than 8 mega bags of ElectroRecycle products, including vacuums, toaster ovens and electric fans! That’s an incredible amount of waste being diverted from the landfill. In addition to the recycling, Free Geek collected plenty of electronics for reuse, and the STEAM truck repaired several beloved appliances.
Missed out on the festivities? Don’t worry; even though RecycleFest is over, you can still bring your small appliances and power tools to recycle for free at any of our collection sites. Find a depot near you so that we can keep on recycling!
Thanks for coming to make RecycleFest 2018 a huge success! We’ll see you next year!
